Last Stop
I’m at SFO waiting for my delayed flight now, on the very tail end of my 23 day trip. It’s not over quite yet though: the jetstream at 30,000 feet is preventing my first connection from flying straight to Atlanta, and we need to stop in Salt Lake City for fuel. The pilot thinks he can do it if he takes off from a specific runway. Ut oh.

End of Pt1
Last full day in Europe today. Did the Vasa museum and the Swedish Royal Palace, made a Swedish dinner with Margaret-Ann after she showed off how clean her dorm room finally was, and got a Toblerone McFlurry to top it all off. Waking up early tomorrow to get my connection to Heathrow, and then onwards to the 11hr flight to San Francisco to start Pt2 of my January.

Natives
Today a Swedish man came up to me and asked for directions, thinking I was from Stockholm. He was in disbelief when I told him I wasn’t.

Laundry Day
Programming a washing machine in a foreign language when it has about 10x as many settings as you thought were possible for laundry is intimidating. Here’s to hoping I didn’t do anything wrong with “Automatic Plus” - the only cognate on the machine.

Water
I’m developing a reputation with Becca and Becky, where every morning and every night coming to/from the tube I demand we stop at the nearby mini-mart so I can buy large bottled waters that I consume near immediately. Hydration is important, yo.

Happy 2012!
Most of my photos (particularly from the fireworks) are on my camera now, so there will likely be a batch upload from a coffee shop in San Francisco when I am reunited with my computer. Off to Cambridge tomorrow for the last of the UK adventuring.

Day 2
Or is it 3, counting travel? Arrived at the hostel yesterday, did a walking tour of most of Westminster and the West End around where I used to live, and met up with Becky and her friend Becca. We repeated most of the tour again, so I’ve now seen Big Ben, Trafalgar Square, Buckingham Palace, Covent Garden, the British Museum and a bunch more, Ll coated in a nice light reflective layer...

Rule #1 of Traveling
Never say, “Oh, I don’t need my camera right now.” Especially when London has a layer of glistening rain on it reflecting back the activity all around it.

The 177 Bus Route
Every morning going to work the 177 bus passes by me while I wait. I have no idea where the route runs, but I assume it is historically a second round steal with a lot of win onboard.
